Key Checkpoints for Covers
1. Fabric
- Weight and denier match the spec (weigh and measure samples)
- Waterproof coating is uniform — no thin spots or cracks
- Color matches the approved sample under natural light
- No pulls, holes, or foreign yarns in the weave
2. Construction
- Stitching density: 8-10 stitches per inch is the standard for covers
- Seams are straight, double-stitched at stress points
- Zippers run smoothly and are correctly attached
- Elastic hems have consistent tension and correct circumference
3. Printing and Logo
- Print placement matches the approved proof within tolerance
- Colors are accurate — compare against the approved color card
- Print is cured/heat-set so it does not crack or peel
4. Sizing
- Measure the finished product against the agreed size chart
- Tolerance is usually ±2-3% of the stated dimensions
- Confirm the size label matches the actual product
5. Packaging
- Polybags are sealed and correct
- Hang tags and barcodes are attached and accurate
- Cartons are strong, correctly labeled, and within export size/weight limits
AQL Sampling Explained
Most professional inspections use AQL (Acceptable Quality Limit) random sampling. Common levels for covers: general inspection level II, with acceptable limits of 0 for critical defects, 1.0-1.5 for major defects, and 4.0 for minor defects. The inspector picks a random sample; if defects stay within the limits, the lot passes.
How to Arrange Inspection
- Video/photographic inspection: the factory live-streams or photographs the checkpoints — fastest, low cost
- Third-party inspection: SGS, Bureau Veritas, or Intertek inspect on your behalf — most independent
- Self-visit: for large orders, visit the factory during production
